The Essence of a Moment…

6 years ago on a weekend trip at a fashion show in Italy: A model strutting down the catwalk, with a beautiful nubuck, fine-grained leather clutch. Vintage-inspired, antiquated detailing and calf leather frame. It was a moment – a personal epiphany – a flash of something magical, predestined in a journey through life.

We are all inspired by people we grew up with. My father: who allowed me to explore and encouraged me to lead a life less ordinary. My maternal grandmother: a spitfire and fiery matriarch. Grace Coddington – Vogue Creative Stylist extradonaire. Stylish iconic women like Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Joespehine Baker, Daphne Guiness, the late Isabella Blow (tortured fashion genius who defined so much…), the writer Evenlyn Waugh, photographer Norman Norrell and my partner.
Traveling to exotic places like Zanzibar or Kenya’s Doni Beach, India, Hong Kong, City of Firenze, Venice, the magic dust of Paris, Munich, London and absolutely New York – for its buzzing energy and aliveness. My story is not a unique one, but when you place it in context with the inspirations and life experiences, one begins to understand the momentousness of each moment which has become the essence of Muldooneys.

Muldooneys woman are sophisticated, sassy, independent, enigmatic, a unique intellectual beauty who captures her own sense of modern femininity in instant classics which don’t date. Woman that are fashion conscious, dresses for themselves and dares to be themselves.

Founder and Creative Director of Muldooneys, born in 1975 to an entrepreneurial father and a mother who was always fashionably aware – it was fitting that at some stage the both values would fuse and become a creative force. Nothwithstanding the early love affair with Vogue, a career in fashion presenting in South Africa and PR.

The London School of Fashion was the beginning of the journey, studying handbag design and crafting, to understanding the basics of leather and cuts.
I set off creating my first collection in a basement garage in London. Visiting factories all around Italy, Asia (From Hong Kong, to Taipei, to India) all the time learning, gauging ideas, gathering impressions and the differing colors of life, which proved to be the ultimate learning in design intuition.
